§ Mr. Hunterasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what effect devaluation is estimated to have on the operating costs of the advanced gas-cooled reactor station Hunterston B; and what effect it will have on the costs of the coal-fired station at Longannet.
§ Mr. RossIt is too early to estimate the effect of devaluation on the costs at these generating stations.
§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the costs of disposing of radioactive waste from the nuclear power station Hunterston A; what methods are used; and whether the costs are being charged against the station.
§ Mr. RossThese costs, which cannot be distinguished from the other costs of the station, are insignificant.
Solid and gaseous waste is dealt with in the manner described by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Power in answering a question by my hon. Friend the Member for Bebington (Mr. Brooks) on 7th November, 1967. Liquid waste is discharged harmlessly from the station.—[Vol. 753, c. 806.]
