§ Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Postmaster-General whether he will make a further statement with regard to extending the use of the Welsh language on forms handled by post offices in Wales.
§ Mr. Edward ShortYes. So far as broadcast receiving licences are concerned I am glad to be able to say that the problems involved in introducing bilingual versions can be overcome. I am therefore arranging that as from 1st May, 1968, all the general forms of broadcast receiving licences—i.e., the ordinary television (including colour television) and sound, monochrome television and sound, and sound only (including licences for car radios)—issued by post offices in Wales and Monmouthshire will be bilingual. The initial cost of this might be of the order of £5,000 and the annual cost thereafter approximately £3,000. Reminders in Welsh will be sent to people who ask for them.
