HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 c234W
Mr. Hale

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what are the present instructions in force in the Army Information Service as to the disclosure to the Press for publication of the name, rank, number, regiment and station abroad of a soldier who has been the subject, in the House of Commons, of Questions which withheld his name.

Mr. Boyden

It is not the practice of my Department to volunteer the name of a soldier who has been the subject, in the House of Commons, of Questions which withheld his name. In a case, however, where a soldier's name is already known to the Press there is no purpose in continuing to withhold it.
