§ Mr. Pardoeasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what basis he intends to adopt for the allocation of sums to local authorities for advances for house purchase in 1968–69; what representations he has received from local authorities on this subject; and it he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GreenwoodAllocations to local authorities for advances for house purchase in 1968–69 will be based on 75 per cent. of whichever was the higher figure of (i) the authority's lending for house purchase in the three years ending 31st March, 1965; or (ii) the actual amount lent in 1966–67. These arrangements have been agreed with the local authority associations who, however, have expressed their wish to send a deputation to discuss the total allocation for England and Wales as a whole, which will be the same for 1968–69 as in 1967–68, that is to say, £130 million. I am arranging for my hon. Friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary to meet the associations.
