HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 c233W
Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what degree of protection for the Government and the majority of the people of Cyprus it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government to provide in pursuance of their obligations under existing international treaties.

Mr. George Thomson

The British Government are mindful of all their obligations under the various treaties in relation to Cyprus to which this country is a party, as well as their obligations under the Charter of the United Nations. Together with the Governments of the United States and Canada and the Secretaries-General of the United Nations and N.A.T.O., the British Government are doing everything in their power to help achieve a peaceful and agreed solution to the present crisis that will be in the interests of all the people of Cyprus.
