Mr. Charles Morrison

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table for the latest available year, showing the proportion of the gross national product represented by provision of all welfare services by central Government and local government, respectively, and showing separately the figures for health services, education, housing and retirement pensions.

The table below shows expenditure on housing and social services as a percentage of the gross national produc tat factor cost. The classification of social services is that used in Table 53 of the 1966 Blue Book on National Income and Expenditure. The detailed analysis of expenditure in 1966 is not yet available.
