§ Mr. FernyhoughAt 8th March, 1967, there were in Lancashire and Cheshire 1,948 notified vacancies remaining unfilled in the textiles industries (Order X of the Standard Industrial Classification). Employers are, however, under no obligation to notify their vacancies and therefore the unfilled vacancies figures do not purport to measure the total demand for labour.
