Mr. Maurice Macmillanasked the Minister of Power whether he will issue a general direction, in the public interest, to the National Coal Board to go through the normal procedure to seek the planning permission it would require were it not a statutory body before proceeding further with proposals to establish coal distribution depots.
§ Mr. FreesonI understand it is the normal practice of the National Coal Board to seek planning permission for coal distribution depots when these are to be operated by them or on their behalf, even though this may not be statutorily necessary in all cases.
