§ Mr. Juddasked the Minister of Overseas Development whether he will make a statement on future British policy and commitments towards development projects of the World Bank and International Development Association.
§ Mr. BottomleyThe British Government will continue to give their fullest support to the World Bank and the International Development Association. We do not expect a further call up of capital subscriptions to the World Bank, whose funds are now raised on private capital markets, but we intend to continue to make appropriate contributions to I.D.A. resources, to which the United Kingdom is the second largest contributor. Close co-operation exists between the British Government and the World Bank on development projects, and we shall seek to strengthen the co-ordination of Bank activities and our own bilateral programmes of development assistance.
