Mr. Longdenasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what action he has most recently taken to encourage the London boroughs to bring their areas under smoke control; and if he will again publish a list of those auth- 56W orities which are not enforcing the provisions of the Clean Air Act.
§ Mr. MellishMy right hon. Friend does not consider that the London Boroughs need special encouragement from him. All have been making smoke control orders, which now cover about 60 per cent. of premises.
Below is a list of those authorities who received letters from the Department in January, 1966, because they had done little or no smoke control, and who have not submitted any smoke control orders since. A number are considering the making of smoke control orders of whom, some have submitted programmes:
