HC Deb 17 April 1967 vol 745 c32W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish details of the local authorities which have not yet submitted plans for comprehensive reorganisation and of those whose plans he has rejected; and if he will state what action he is taking in each case.

Mr. Crosland

Of the 162 local education authorities in England and Wales, only 36 have yet to submit proposals under Circular 10/65, including five which have officially indicated their intention not to do so. The remaining 31 authorities are at various stages of planning and I am satisfied with the progress being made. I have rejected the schemes put forward by nine authorities and asked them to submit fresh proposals.
