Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Minister of Technology what is the present staff of the Building Research Station; and what was the equivalent figure for each of the years since 1960, inclusive.

The staff at 1st April, 1967 totalled 733, including 159 industrial staff. The figures for 1960 onwards are shown in the table below:—

  • 1st April, 1960: 564 (including 129 industrial staff)
  • 1st April, 1961: 595 (including 137 industrial staff)
  • 1st April, 1962: 603 (including 134 industrial staff)
  • 1st April 1963: 631 (including 143 industrial staff)
  • 1st April, 1964: 644 (including 141 industrial staff)
  • 1st April, 1965: 664 (including 145 industrial staff)
  • 1st April, 1966: 690 (including 142 industrial staff).
