asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what obstacles now remain to the further improvement of Anglo-Burmese relations.

Her Majesty's Government have friendly relations with Burma and sympathise with her Government's desire to pursue a neutral and nonaligned policy. But we regret Burma's refusal so far to sanction remittances for most former British residents and to pay satisfactory compensation to British firms whose property has been nationalised.
