§ Dr. John Dunwoodyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government which areas, important for wild-life, will be protected by booms from oil pollution resulting from the "Torrey Canyon".
§ Mr. GreenwoodThe Boom Advisory Unit at Plymouth, in considering where 259W booms should be provided, took into account, among other factors, a list furnished by the Nature Conservancy of areas important for wild life. The places for which boom materials were available or were supplied include the Camel Estuary, Fowey, Hayle, and the Helford River, which were on the Nature Conservancy list. But even the best of the booms now available cannot be relied on to give complete protection except in sheltered waters and not all have been tested against oil.
