§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsThe Willis Jackson report found that there was no lack of suitable facilities for obtaining nationally recognised technician qualifications, and that any restriction on the output of new technicians was due to insufficient numbers coming forward for training. The industrial training boards, a number of which have set up special committees to consider technician training, are making arrangements in their grant schemes to encourage employers to institute systematic programmes of training and education for technicians, and it is normally a condition for the payment of grant that technician trainees should be released from work to follow a suitable course of further education. The provision for technician courses in technical colleges will be expanded as necessary to meet the growing demand.
