asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Phantom aircraft he expects to deploy in the Middle and Far East.

Mr. Healey

I am not prepared to state numbers but R.A.F. Phantoms will be deployed, in due course, to the Middle and Far East, in the former case rotation from the United Kingdom. Other Phantom aircraft in the United Kingdom will be available for overseas reinforcement. Royal Navy Phantom aircraft on aircraft carriers will also be deployed East of Suez.
