§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has had about conditions of employment of au pair girls; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe main representations are that the present minimum age of 15 is too low, that a standard form of agreement should be signed by theau pair girl and the head of the receiving family, and that there should be a system of licensing the agencies which deal with au pair placings. The first two points are covered by recommendations made by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe which I shall shortly be discussing with representative organisations in this country. The third may be met by the Employment Agencies (Regulation) Bill.
