§ Mrs. Lena Jegerasked the Minister of Health what is the policy of his Department towards direct access pregnancy testing services which are advertised to the public; and if he will take steps, by legislation or otherwise, to control the qualifications required of advertisers.
107W
§ Mr. K. RobinsonI am advised that it is better for a woman who thinks she may be pregnant to consult her doctor. This could be particularly important where the symptoms are due to conditions other than pregnancy, when professional advice and treatment may be necessary. I have however no power to control these advertisements and am not satisfied that legislation for this purpose would be justified.
