§ Mr. FoleyCaning is the only corporal punishment permitted in the Royal Navy; it is strictly controlled by regulation and restricted to junior ratings under 18 years of age at the two Junior Training Establishments. It is administered on the authority of the Commanding Officer only for the more serious offences, particularly bullying.
