HC Deb 04 April 1967 vol 744 c26W
Mr. Abse

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the public concern resulting from the inadequacy and antiquity of the existing X-ray facilities at Pontypool and District Hospital, that general practitioners of the city have now been denied open access to the X-ray department and that there are dangers to health and life as a result of the present delays; what action he is taking to replace the unsafe machine now installed; and when the department will be again fully operational.

Mr. K. Robinson

I am informed by the Welsh Hospital Board that the present X-ray set has had to be taken out of use and this will involve some curtailment in the service available locally. Patients requiring urgent investigation can be referred to other hospitals in the Hospital Management Committee Group. A new machine will be installed as rapidly as possible and it is hoped that the new unit will be fully operational by July 1967.
