Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what percentage of the Government and Exchequer estimates of £205,325,750 it is proposed to spend in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England, respectively;

(2) what percentage of the total Government expenditure in 1966–67, or for the last year for which the information is available, was spent in Wales and Scotland, respectively;

(3) what precentage of the estimated expenditure in 1967–68 of £510,324,030 on public works and common Governmental services it is proposed to spend in Wales and Scotland, respectively;

(4) what part of the estimated expenditure for 1967–68 of £31,004,300 on smaller public departments it is proposed to spend in Wales.

The information at present available is contained in Table IV of the Memorandum by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury on the Estimates 1967–68 (Cmnd. 3227). This shows the provision in Estimates for expenditure on certain services for England, for Scotland and for Wales. My right hon. Friend will consider whether the coverage of Table IV can be extended in future years.
