§ Mr. Gwynfor Evansasked the Minister of Overseas Development in which countries Overseas Aid, Multilateral, will be reduced so as to effect the proposed reduction of £137,000.
§ Mr. BottomleyThe decrease in the relevant vote in the Civil Estimates for 1967–68 is more than accounted for by the fact that in 1967–68 there is no counterpart of a special grant of £300,000 made in 1966–67 to the U.N. Special Industrial Services Trust Fund which still has considerable resources in hand. The question of reductions in individual countries does not arise, but in any case a feature of multilateral aid is that its distribution among countries is the responsibility of the agencies concerned and not of subscribing countries.
