§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will introduce legislation to create a traffic corps under police control, with a view to leaving the policeman more time to deal with crime.
§ Mr. RossI am not convinced that it would be advisable wholly to separate the traffic and crime aspects of police duty. I am, however, anxious that the maximum use should be made of traffic wardens for duties that do not require the full powers and special training of police officers.
