Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Defence why Her Majesty's Government was not represented at the funeral of General Tadeusz Bor-Komorowski who commanded the Polish underground army in 1944 and was later Commander-in-Chief of Poland's armed forces; and if he will give an assurance that a representative will attend the Memorial Service in Westminster Cathedral on 20th October.

Official attendance at a privately-arranged funeral is not customary, but at the memorial service for General Bor-Komorowski on 20th October, the Ministry of Defence and the British armed forces will be represented by Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir John Slessor and other officers. In addition, my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary will be represented.
