§ 69. Mr. Mappasked the Minister of Transport if she will consult the regional economic councils concerned before agreeing to a merger of British Railways Eastern and North Eastern Regions.
§ Mrs. CastleI have decided to make an Order under Section 2(2) of the Transport Act, 1962, to provide for a merger of Eastern and North Eastern Regions of British Railways and the appropriate Statutory Instrument will be laid before Parliament shortly. As this is an administrative matter, I did not think it appropriate to seek the advice of the regional economic planning councils.
