HC Deb 29 November 1966 vol 737 c92W
Mr. Spriggs

asked the Postmaster-General what representations he has received from the Subpostmasters Federation against the downgrading of St. Helens Head Post Office; what replies he gave; and if he will reconsider the Head Postmaster's position at the St. Helens Post Office in view of the co-operation which industry has always been able to rely upon whilst the Post Office administration for St. Helens has been sited in the town's centre.

Mr. Edward Short

None from the headquarters of the National Federation of Subpostmasters, although local Sub-postmasters have associated themselves with a protest by the local staff. A Crown Post Office will remain in the town centre after the reorganisation, and I am satisfied that there will continue to be the fullest co-operation with local industry.
