HC Deb 29 November 1966 vol 737 cc60-1W
83. Mr. John Fraser

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware of the practice of granting residential tenancy agreements exceeding terms of 21 years with market rents reviewable every three years; and if he will take steps to prevent this circumvention of the Rent Act, 1965.

Mr. MacColl

Prospective tenants should take expert, independent advice before signing leases of more than 21 years. My right hon. Friend proposes to give publicity to this and he hopes that this answer will itself be widely reported. He is considering what further steps he might take.
