HC Deb 29 November 1966 vol 737 c84W
45. Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Transport what is the total expenditure by central Government and local authorities on roads in England and in Wales, respectively.

Mr. Swingler

The following table shows our estimates and those of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales of expenditure in the financial year 1966/67 on new roads, improvements of existing roads and maintenance:

the bridge, which carries a classified road, is maintained by the Flintshire County Council who tell me they are keeping it under observation. I understand that the two councils are discussing the need to impose a weight limitation on the bridge and I hope they will reach early agreement. A proposal to by-pass the bridge is also under examination by the two authorities.
