HC Deb 25 November 1966 vol 736 c372W
Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made with discussions to ensure that vehicles, once they have been declared a write-off by an insurance company, are not in any way used again on the highway.

Mr. Swingler

We are pressing ahead with discussions with insurers and others on the arrangements referred to in answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Brentford and Chiswick (Mr. Barnes) on 16th November. [Vol. 736, c.114.]

It does not necessarily follow that because a vehicle has been treated as a "total loss" for insurance purposes it cannot be effectively repaired to proper and safe standards.
