Mr. Bradleyasked the Minister of Transport if she will postpone a decision on the proposed merger of the British Railways' Eastern and North-Eastern Regions until the Joint Steering Group set up under Command Paper No. 3057 has reported on the suitability of the Board's management structure and procedures.
§ Mrs. CastleI am at present considering the Railways Board's proposals for a merger of Eastern and North-Eastern Regions. I intend to take an early decision in order to remove the present uncertainty, which is worrying many railway staff.
