HC Deb 21 November 1966 vol 736 cc249-50W
Mr. A. Royle

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the number of full- and part-time civil servants employed in Weights and Measures departments throughout the United Kingdom in July, 1965, and July, 1966.

Mr. Darling

In Great Britain, where enforcement duties in connection with weights and measures are discharged by local authorities, the Board of Trade employed 24 full-time civil servants in July, 1965, and 28 in July, 1966: there were

no part-time staff. In Northern Ireland the Ministry of Commerce employed 23 full-time and 2 part-time staff on weights and measures work at both the above dates.
