HC Deb 21 November 1966 vol 736 c223W
Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Labour what is the extent of unemployment in the printing industry on Merseyside; and what notification has been received by his Department of impending closures in the printing industry in that area.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The total number of persons registered as unemployed at the Merseyside Employment Exchanges whose last employment was in printing industries was 74 on 10th October.

Our local officers have been informed of the closure of a printing works in the Liverpool area due to take place during the first quarter of 1967. I understand that production will be transferred to other branches and that the firm hope to offer alternative work to many of the employees affected by the closure.
