§ Mr. Blakerasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the annual cost to public funds incurred as a result of the Brunei Agreement 1959; and what contribution is made by the Brunei Government in money and in kind.
§ Mr. HealeyThe total cost of British forces stationed in Brunei is about £1.2 million. The Brunei Government contribute some £450,000 a year in cash and free supplies. In addition, it has provided works services to the value of about £1.4 million over the past three years, and also pays the costs of the British High Commissioner and his establishment some £35,000 a year.
