HC Deb 16 November 1966 vol 736 cc122-3W
110. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Minister of Transport if she will issue a general direction, in the public interest, to British Railways, to reduce charges attributable to the Selective Employment Tax in the hotels under their control.

Mr. John Morris

No. As I said in my Answer on 3rd November to a previous Question by my right hon. Friend, the overall yield of the surcharge is within the acceptable limits of Government policy.

British Transport Hotels tell us that they are keeping their charges under review.—[Vol. 735, c. 154.]
