HC Deb 15 November 1966 vol 736 c83W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Labour what is the decline in the number of people employed in the slate industry in Wales since 1964.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

Employment estimates are not available for the slate industry alone. Employees in employment in the Stone and Slate Quarrying and Mining industry (Minimum List Heading 102 of the Standard Industrial Classification) in Wales decreased from 5,600 at mid-1964 to 5,200 at mid-1965, the latest date for which information is available.
