asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what were the numbers of crimes known to the police involving the use of firearms in England and Wales in the months of January to October, inclusive, in the three years 1964, 1965 and 1966.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

During 1964 and 1965 the numbers of indictable offences involving firearms known to the police were 731 and 1,140 respectively.

For the first nine months of this year the corresponding figure was 1,019.
