Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what date he was last in Germany to discuss the question of the support costs for British troops in Germany; what was the difference in marks in the amount offered by the German Government and the amount claimed by Her Majesty's Government; and what change there has been between the date of these discus- 54W sions and Thursday, 3rd November, so far as Great Britain's official claim is concerned.
§ Mr. Callaghan13th October. The Germans offered DM 350 million against our requirement of DM 860 million. Since that date the tripartite U.K./U.S./ German talks have started, and I still await their outcome.
