HC Deb 15 November 1966 vol 736 cc54-5W
Mr. Barnett

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much of the offset agreement with West Germany for the two years to 31st March, 1966, has now been spent; and by what date he estimates the whole of the amount will be spent.

Mr. Callaghan

Payments actually made in the period 1st April, 1964, to 31st March, 1966, including payments from the Advance Payments Account set up in July, 1965, amounted to £62.3 million. As to the date by which payments attributable to Article 5 of the Protocol of 20th July, 1965, will be completed, I have nothing to add to the forecast made in the reply given to the hon. Member by the Chief Secretary on 5th May, 1966.—[Vol. 728, c.155.]

Mr. Barnett

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give a schedule of the goods sold against the offset agreement with West Germany for the two years to 31st March, 1966.

Mr. Callaghan

The arrangements under the offset agreement comprise both military and civilian sales, and details of arms sales overseas are not normally disclosed. Civilian sales comprise over 1,500 separate items and a schedule would not be practicable.
