Friend's predecessor, a review of the output of trained planners, including those required for regional planning, has been initiated under the auspices of the Department of Education and Science and the University Grants Committee. Four new post-graduate courses in regional or regional and urban planning380W have been started this autumn at Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Nottingham universities.
