HC Deb 09 November 1966 vol 735 c315W
Mr. Harold Walker

asked the Minister of Labour how many of the 900 workers recently made redundant in Doncaster by Imperial Chemical Industries Fibres and International Harvester are still unemployed; how many persons are registered as unemployed at the Doncaster Employment Exchange; and what unemployment ratio this represents.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

104 of the redundant workers are registered as unemployed. There were 2,047 persons registered as unemployed at Doncaster Employment Exchange on 10th October, 1966, representing 2.4 per cent. of the working population.

Mr. Harold Walker

asked the Minister of Labour what is the average duration of the period of unemployment of adult disabled persons currently registered as unemployed at the Doncaster Employment Exchange.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The average duration of the period of unemployment of adult disabled persons currently registered as unemployed at the Doncaster Employment Exchange is 55 weeks. This figure is however misleading as it includes a small number of very long-term unemployed.

Fifty-five per cent. have been unemployed 26 weeks or less; 35 per cent. 13 weeks or less.
