asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total expenditure by Government Departments and local authorities on the promotion of local employment in each of the years 1962–63, 1963–64, 1964–65, and 1965–66.

The total amount of assistance offered by my Department under the Local Employment Acts for projects in development districts in Great Britain by way of provision of factories, building grants, plant and machinery grants, and general purpose loans and grants in the financial years 1962–63 to 1965–66 has been as follows:
