81. Mr. Heffer

asked the Minister of Transport whether she will issue a general direction, in the public interest, to British Railways, to run trains later than 18.30 hours both ways between London and the larger provincial centres.

82. Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Transport if she will give a general direction to British Railways to ensure that businessmen visiting London from provincial cities can return to their homes the same day by trains leaving after 19.30 hours.

No. The timing of railway services is the responsibility of the Railways Board.
