HC Deb 09 November 1966 vol 735 cc304-5W
97. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received in relation to his proposals to sterilise by cooking all meat sold for feeding dogs.

Mr. John Mackie

My right hon. Friend and his right hon. Friend the Minister of Health have proposed that the sterilisation requirement already applicable to unfit slaughterhouse meat and unfit imported meat shall be extended to knacker meat and to all imported meat not intended for human consumption. They have asked for comments by 30th November. So far 14 out of 44 interested organisations and a number of individuals and firms have made representations, some in favour of the proposals and some not.
