asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what function the Royal Navy's Future Fleet Committee serves;

(2) what is the constitution of the Royal Navy's Future Fleet Committee; and how often it has met.

The future Fleet Working Party, which has now reported, was set up to present the Admiralty Board, in the first instance, with the facts and advice necessary to enable decisions on the future shape and size of the Fleet to be taken in the light of the 1966 Defence Review. It was constituted from the Naval Staff and met at regular intervals from April to August this year.
