§ 92. Mr. Priorasked the Minister of Transport whether she is aware of the concern in the borough of Lowestoft about the delay in starting the building of the new swing bridge in view of the possible mechanical failure of the existing bridge and its inadequacy to carry the traffic; whether she will now give a firm date for the starting of the bridge; and when she expects it to be opened.
§ Mr. SwinglerWe are aware of this concern and we propose to provide a bascule bridge. The necessary Orders under the Highways Act, 1959, will be published in draft this year. Until the Orders are made I cannot say when work will start; construction will take about 21 months.
