§ 93. Mr. Pounderasked the Minister of Aviation how many persons were employed in the United Kingdom aircraft industry in September, 1966; how this figure compares with that for September, 1964; and what is the employment estimate for 1970.
§ Mr. MulleyThe latest available statistics are for the month of August, 1966, when the labour force in the industry was 256,000. In September, 1964 the figure was 269,400.
I estimate that the labour force will be about 200,000 in 1970 which is the figure I gave the House last February, during the debate on the Plowden Report.
