asked the Minister of Transport at what intervals police cars patrol the Ml and M6 motorways.

I have been asked to reply.

In fine weather by day the average distances between patrolling cars at 14 miles on Ml and 13 miles on M6; the average distance in fine weather by night is 23 miles on both motorways. Patrols are greatly strengthened in bad weather.
