§ 48. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what sum has been contributed to the fund set up by his Department for the dependants of policemen.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsIn addition to the single donation of £100,000 with which the Fund was started, some £111,000, including £43,000 from Metropolitan Police officers, had been received by 31st October. Further substantial donations are expected when formalities for the registration of the Trust as a charity have been completed. My noble Friend, Lord Stonham has been acting as convenor of the Fund but apart from the Permanent Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, all the Trustees will be serving police officers: and it will be for the Trustees, not for my Department, to run the Trust.
