§ Mr. PadleyWe are giving the Government of the Federation of South Arabia substantial amounts of additional financial aid to strengthen their armed forces in readiness for independence and, provided there is no change in political conditions in South Arabia which might make its continuation inappropriate, this aid will be maintained for three years beyond the date of independence. The Federal Government have been assured that financial aid for civil purposes will also be provided beyond the date of independence.
