§ Mr. John MackieLocal authorities have recently been empowered to control hours of slaughter subject to consultation and appeal. I have made more of my veterinary officers available to advise them on matters of meat inspection and hygiene. We must await the results of these measures which we hope will expedite progress towards full inspection and uniformly high standards.
